Armenia Accuses Azerbaijan of Distorting Facts at U.N. Security Council Meeting
Armenia has accused Yashar Aliyev, Azerbaijan’s Permanent Representative to the U.N., of distorting the truth about his country’s ongoing blockade of Karabakh when he addressed the August 16 urgent meeting of the U.N. Security Council.
Armenia’s Foreign Ministry, in a statement today, writes that despite Azerbaijan’s false propaganda, the meeting revealed the extent of the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno Karabakh to the international community.
“Allegations about famine and genocide are false and fictitious,” Yashar Aliyev said during his address.
The ministry thanks those member states of the U.N. Security Council who have called on Azerbaijan to reopen the Lachin Corridor, praising them for remaining faithful to their mandate to advance international security and peace.
The ministry says Armenia will continue to work on various platforms, including the U.N. Security Council, to unblock the Lachin corridor and resolve the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh.
