Yerevan Residents Organize Humanitarian Aid Drive for Artsakh
People in Yerevan have, for the past week, donated food and medicine destined to the people of Artsakh.
Bags of flour, oil, sugar, salt, coffee, sweets, groceries, hygiene items, first aid medicine are stacked up outside the UN office in Yerevan.
The civic initiative, called Batsum (Open) in Armenian, is an attempt to publicize the humanitarian crisis in Artsakh resulting from the months-long Azerbaijani blockade of the Lachin Corridor and to pressure international organizations to act.
Organizers of the drive have delivered a letter, addressed to UN Resident Coordinator for Armenia Niels Scott, calling on the official to have the supplies sent to Artsakh without further delay.
