Artsakh Parliament Urges Yerevan to Suspend Normalization Talks in Washinton D.C.

Artsakh’s parliament has called on the government of Armenia to suspend talks underway in Washington D.C. to normalize relations between Yerevan and Baku.

The parliament, in a statement issued today, says the killing of four Artsakh soldiers last night when Azerbaijan shelled Artsakh military positions again proves that such talks are meaningless until Azerbaijan stops all aggression against Artsakh and reopens the Lachin Corridor.

The parliament argues such talks merely provide Baku the opportunity to continue its aggression under the guise of seeking peace.

The parliament also called on the UN Security Council and the leaders of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chair countries to take specific practical steps, in particular, to impose sanctions on Azerbaijan, to curb its provocations.

The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan are in Washington D.C. for talks hosted by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
