Armenia Blames International Community for Inaction on Karabakh Conflict
Armenia blamed the international community of ignoring the fact that the rights and security of Karabakh Armenians can be ensured without the involvement and attention of global players.
Citing Azerbaijani provocative statements threatening the use of force against the sovereign territory of Armenia and Karabakh Armenians, Armenia’s foreign ministry, in a statement today, questioned Baku’s readiness to achieve peace in the South Caucasus.
“Moreover, Azerbaijan's actions are not only not aimed at addressing the many existing problems through a constructive dialogue with Stepanakert, but on the contrary, they consistently lead to ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh,” the statement reads, citing Baku’s ongoing blockade of the Lachin Corridor and its targeting of the civilian populace.
The ministry again stressed the urgent need for an international mechanism to supervise direct talks between Karabakh and Azerbaijan.
