A delegation headed by Yerevan Mayor Hrachya Sargsyan left for Tehran on an official visit and is scheduled to sign an agreement declaring Yerevan and Tehran sister cities.

The delegation was invited to the Iranian capital by Mayor Alireza Zakani.

Zakani, considered a hardliner, was a candidate in the June 2012 presidential elections but withdrew from the race in favor of Ebrahim Raisi who won with 62% of the vote.
