UN Security Council Discusses Lachin Corridor
The UN Security Council, based on Armenia’s request, is discussing the ongoing blocking of the Lachin Corridor, the only roadway connecting Artsakh and Armenia.
A group of Azerbaijanis, claiming to be environmentalists concerned with illegal mining in Karabakh, have blocked the road for more than a week.

Mher Margaryan, Armenia’s Permanent Representative to the U.N., told the council that Baku wants to create a “humanitarian crisis” in Nagorno Karabakh and force Armenians to leave the region.
The Armenian Foreign Ministry, in a statement today, says Margaryan called on the UN to deploy a fact-finding mission to Nagorno-Karabakh and the Lachin Corridor to assess the humanitarian situation on the ground.
Margaryan also urged the UN to demand that Azerbaijan fully respects the provisions of the Trilateral Statement of 9 November 2020 and to immediately and unconditionally unblock the Lachin corridor by removing all obstacles for the safe, secure and unimpeded transport communication.
