Five Patients Needing Emergency Medical Care in Armenia Stuck in Stepanakert

Armenians in Artsakh, scheduled to be transferred to Armenia for emergency medical care, are stuck in Stepanakert because the only roadway to Armenia has been closed for the past day.

Stepanakert Medical Center Director Mher Musayelyan told Hetq by telephone that five patients were scheduled to be taken to Armenia had the road been open.

Musayelyan said the hospital has sufficient medical supplies to treat its 130 patients, but the situation could worsen if the road remains closed.

A group of Azerbaijanis claiming to be "environmental activists" closed the Stepanakert-Goris highway linking Artsakh and Armenia yesterday for the second time in nine days.

The roadway remains closed today.
