Several hundred demonstrators, some carrying Ukrainian flags, gathered today in Yerevan’s Liberty Square to oppose a session of the Russian-backed CSTO military alliance now underway in the Armenian capital.

The demonstrators say CSTO has done nothing to support Armenia, a CSTO member, in the face of Azerbaijani military aggression. They want Armenia to withdraw from the organization.

Russia’s Putin and Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko have arrived in Armenia for the meeting of the CSTO Security Council.
