Armenian President, EU Special Envoys Meet in Yerevan

Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan today hosted a delegation of special envoys from the EU and EU member states who deal with Eastern Partnership issues.

The Eastern Partnership (EaP) is a joint initiative of the European External Action Service of the European Union (EU) together with the EU, its member states, and six Eastern European partners governing the EU's relationship with post-Soviet Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine.

Khachaturyan, according to his office, described Armenia’s security challenges in the wake of Azerbaijani aggression in September and the important role of the OSCE observer mission dispatched to Armenia.

He emphasized that Armenia's principled position is to establish peace in the region and neighborly relations with its neighbors.

During the conversation, ideas were exchanged on demarcating the Armenia-Azerbaijan border, the importance of regional security, and the current stage of Armenian-Turkish normalization talks.
