Yerevan Demonstrators Oppose Return of Karabakh to Azerbaijan

Several hundred people gathered in Yerevan’s France Square today voicing their opposition to any peace plan returning Karabakh to Azerbaijan.

The demonstration was organized by the Resistance Movement that staged a series of anti-government protests in Armenia last spring seeking to force the resignation of Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan.

Failing to achieve this goal, the movement decided to halt the protests in June. The Resistance Movement is backed by the Armenian Alliance (Hayastan Dashink) led by former Armenian President Robert Kocharyan (last photo-center).

Bishop Bagrat Galstyan, Primate of the Tavush Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, was one of the speakers at the rally.

One of the demonstrators carried a placard reading “Nikol’s not Authorized to Speak for all Armenians” this, despite his party's victory in the June 2021 snap parliamentary election.
