Armenian, Indian Defense Ministers Discuss Expanding Cooperation

The defense ministers of Armenia and India met today in New Delhi and discussed expanding defense sector cooperation.

Armenian Defense Minister Suren Papikyan, according to his office, thanked his Indian counterpart Rajnath Singh for India’s support for Armenia’s territorial integrity in light of recent Azerbaijani military aggression.

Papikyan’s working visit to India is noteworthy given Armenia’s need to source new defense sector suppliers.

In September, India announced a US $245 million arms deal with Armenia. The deal includes Indian-made Pinaka multi-barrel rocket launchers, anti-tank rockets and various types of ammunition to Armenia.

Papikyan invited Singh to travel to Armenia on an official visit.
