U.N. FAO Provides Autumn Wheat Seed to Needy Families in Armenia
The U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) reports that it is providing autumn wheat seed to needy families in Armenia.
The FAO, in a statement, says that wheat is the most cultivated grain in Armenia, but production has steadily decreased in recent years.
The FAO points to the war in Ukraine as disrupting traditional logistics channels and hindering export and import processes in Armenia.
1,078 families in Armenia’s Gegharkunik, Shirak and Syunik provinces will receive 300 kilograms of seed each.
The FAO says 151 tons of autumn wheat seed has already been distributed in Gegharkunik (Chambarak and Vardenis communities) and Shirak (Ani, Akhuryan, Artik, Amasia and Ashotsk communities).
