U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Lynne Tracy, during her trip yesterday to Armenia’s southern Syunik province, said the U.S. is doing what it can to decrease tensions along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border and to facilitate normalization talks between Yerevan and Baku.

Syunik Governor Robert Ghukasyan hosted Tracy at his office in Kapan.

Ghukasyan, according to his office, thanked Tracy for visiting the region and called on the international community to exert pressure on Baku to halt any further aggression against Armenia.

“People here do not want to leave their communities, which increases the risk of military operations against the civilian population. All this should be highly assessed by the international community,” Ghukasyan said.
