
Pashinyan, Guterres Discuss Recent Border Clashes
Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan and U.N. Secretary General Antonio Guterres met today in New York and discussed the recent fighting along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border and Azerbaijani attacks against Armenia proper.
Pashinyan, according to his office, emphasized the importance of discussions held in the U.N. Security Council based on Armenia's application and the expression of clear and targeted positions by the U.N. Security Council member states regarding Azerbaijani aggression.
Pashinyan stressed the need for consistent steps to prevent new aggression by Azerbaijan and noted Azerbaijan’s gross violations of international humanitarian law by Azerbaijan, including targeting civilian the population and infrastructure.
Guterres expressed his concerns about the continuation of tension on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and emphasized the importance of settling regional problems through peaceful negotiations.
