Lavrov to Visit Azerbaijan for Talks
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will visit Baku on June 23-24 and is scheduled to meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov.
According to Ria Novosti, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said the sides will discuss a broad range of issues to expand relations between Moscow and Baku.
Zakharova said regional and international issues will be discussed and special attention will be paid to the implementation of trilateral agreement reached by Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.
Lavrov visited Yerevan last week and met with Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan and Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan
During a press briefing after the meeting with Mirzoyan, Lavrov stated the process of agreeing on a transport route between Armenia and Azerbaijan is in the final stage.
Lavrov said the unblocking of railway-transport communication will be based on the preservation of Armenia's territorial sovereignty.
"As you know, a railway route has been agreed to and the coordination of the transport route and its regime is ending. The unblocking will be based on the recognition of the sovereignty of Armenian territory. There can be no ambiguity here," Lavrov said.
