Archbishop Spearheads Border Deal Protest March on Yerevan

"On the 9th of the month, our people, God willing, will reach Yerevan and put forward their clear demands." - Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan

Armenian Apostolic Church Tavush Primate Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan continues his march on Yerevan to protest the government’s handover of border regions to Azerbaijan.

Galstyan, and those opposed to the deal, argue that Armenia will get nothing in return.

The primate launched his march from the village of Kirants on May 4 and hopes to reach Yerevan today.

Many along the way approach the church leader to receive his blessing.

These photos were taken as the marchers made their way from Dilijan along the Sevan Highway to Yerevan.
